Can I join even if I never have done Feldenkrais before?
Yes, beginners are very welcome.
Plan enough time to set up and join the meeting 5-10 minutes before the class starts so you can ask questions. In the first few minutes of each class important instructions are given. You don’t want to miss out on them especially if you are new to the method.
Chose comfortable warm clothes which allow you to move freely. Layers are good. In many Feldenkrais classes you will do only slow and small movements. Even in a warm room you might get a bit cold.
As I will be supervising you via the video consider wearing lighter colours and avoid black.
What equipment do I need?
I recommend using a (yoga)mat, blanket or simply the carpet and to have some towels handy as well. Bring some water and your curiosity. No need for extra fancy stuff.
How long is a Feldenkrais group class?
In general a class is between 45-60 minutes long. Allow yourself some time afterwards to integrate your experiences. You are invited to our little social afterwards but it’s optional.
Diving into the world of sensation and self awareness can be very tiring or energising. It differs from person to person and from lesson to lesson. Just make sure you plan enough time afterwards before you schedule other appointments.
Is a Feldenkrais class suitable for 60 plus?
YES absolutely! No one is too old to learn something new! If some movements are difficult you simply do them in your imagination. “You Are Never Too Old To Learn” is the success story of one of my students and he was 88 years old when he started working with me.
In Feldenkrais work we are using small gentle movements to improve your self awareness. You improve the way you move now and (re)gain comfort and ease no matter what your age.
A lot of the classes are on the floor and your Feldenkrais teacher will make it easy for you to get down and to come up again. It will get easier each time anyway.
Is Feldenkrais for men too?
YES. The Feldenkrais classes will help you no matter what age or gender you are.
The Feldenkrais Method is about learning and your gender, age, profession or nationality doesn’t matter as long as you are open minded and curious you can benefit from it.
Can I join a course even when I have a very irregular work life?
No worries. If you choose the additional audio recordings (included in the Intensive Course) you can catch up with the lessons at your convenience.
Do I need to pay for Zoom?
Using Zoom is totally free for you. Having a personal Zoom account (FREE) can help you in the daily use of the program but is not obligatory.
Can I test Zoom by myself?
Try out Zoom here: zoom.us/test/. This opens a test meeting for you alone. Check out your video and audio setting in private. There is no time restriction.
Why should I point the camera onto me during the class?
The set up with a camera allows me to observe your movements and to guide you safely through the gentle exercises. In case of confusion I can address you directly. In general my verbal feedback supports the process.
Why is the meeting/class/workshop recorded?
Thanks to the internet and the functionality of Zoom I am able to offer you the audio recordings of the group classes. They are included in the Intensive Courses and can be purchased as well.
