Guidelines for the Mini Feldenkrais lessons
Here are some guidelines to consider.
- Do the movement as slowly as possible. The quality of the way you move is more important than finding the limit of range and speed. When working with a Feldenkrais mindset everything slows down. Resting in between the explorations gives your brain time to adjust.
- If at any point the movement gets uncomfortable or even painful, make it smaller or stop completely. In that case work in your imagination instead. Your brain doesn’t learn when you are in pain. The goal is comfort and ease rather than pain and exertion.
- Read each instruction, do the movement 5-10 times and then explore the variations.
After your exploration keep on investigating to see if something has changed in your body and the way you move during the next hours and days. Feel free to repeat these Awareness Through Movement lessons as often as you like and let me know what you think.
